Level Up Your Hiking and Camping with Cannabis
For those who seek to deepen their connection with the natural world, combining hiking and camping with the use of cannabis might offer an enriched experience. If you use cannabis to enhance your day-to-day, whether to take the edge of pain or anxiety away or simply to enjoy your evening post-work, this should come as no surprise.
Here’s a few reasons why some outdoorsy folks bring cannabis along on their treks into nature:
Sensory Amplification
Cannabis is renowned for its ability to enhance sensory perception. When you're surrounded by the splendor of the outdoors, these heightened senses can transform a simple walk or an evening under the stars into something magical. Imagine the enhanced rustling of leaves, the intricate patterns of bark, the soft glow of the campfire, and the subtle flavors of your camping meals – all enhanced and perceived more intensely. This sensory boost can make your natural surroundings feel even more vivid and alive.
Relaxation and Stress Relief
Camping and hiking are activities many turn to for a break from the stress of daily life. Adding cannabis into the mix can amplify this stress relief. Its calming properties can help melt away residual tension, allowing campers and hikers to fully immerse themselves in the peace and tranquility of their environment, of the moment. This can be especially beneficial after a long day’s hike, as cannabis can help soothe the mind and body, preparing you for a restful night under the stars.
Deepened Connections with Nature and Others
Cannabis often promotes introspection and a heightened emotional sensitivity. This can lead to a deeper appreciation of the natural beauty around you and a greater sense of connection to the environment. And, when shared among a group in recreational states, cannabis can facilitate bonding. The communal experience of passing around a joint around a campfire can lead to enriched conversations and shared memories, strengthening relationships and enhancing the social enjoyment of the trip.
The Best Cannabis Products for Hiking and Camping
But what are the best marijuana products for camping? Something portable is always convenient – a glass bong, for example, wouldn't be a it of a challenge to pack, and smoking from a bowl outdoors will leave you waiting for a moment of calm from the window. For that reason, we prefer:
- The Bubsy, the innovative Puffco portable bong that looks just like a water bottle
- The Puffco Peak, another device for on-the-go dosing but with dabs for those who prefer a nice macrodose
- Pre-rolls, flower rolled and ready to go for your stroll or night around the campfire
- Vapes,
- Edibles, pre-dosed and homemade, like...
The Best Hiking and Campfire Cannabis Edibles Recipes
Outside of products to grab and go, homemade edibles are a great way to bring marijuana into your outdoor exploration. Take a look at our three favorite recipes:
Cannabis-Infused Trail Mix
- 1 c of your favorite nuts, or 1/2 c peanut butter chips
- 1/2 c seeds, like sunflower or pumpkin seeds
- 1 c dried fruit, we like raisins, cranberries, chopped apricots, apple slices, or banana chips
- 1/2 c granola, Cheerios, or pretzels.
- 1/4 c chocolate chips or candy
- 1/4 c peanut butter chips (if you're not using nuts)
- 1 Encore Chocolate or similar per serving (or more, depending on your desired dose)
- Mix all of your dry ingredients together, except the Encore or similar cannabis chocolates.
- Divide the trail mix into 12-16 servings.
- Add your desired dose of cannabis chocolate to each serving.
- Enjoy while hiking or camping!
Cannabis-Infused Coconut Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
- 1/4 c cannabutter
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 c shredded coconut
- 1/2 c chocolate chips
- 1/2 c of your favorite nuts, chopped
- 1/4 c honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 c brown sugar
- 1/4 c peanut butter or almond butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line the baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, and chopped nuts. If you’re adding optional seeds, mix them in as well.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the cannabis-infused coconut oil, honey (or maple syrup), brown sugar, and peanut butter. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour the warm liquid mixture over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Stir with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are evenly coated.
- Transfer the granola mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly to compact the mixture (this helps the bars hold together after baking).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cooling in the refrigerator for about an hour can make the bars easier to slice.
- Once cooled, lift the parchment paper to remove the granola block from the pan and cut into bars.
- Store the bars in an airtight container for your hiking or camping adventure!
Cannabis-Infused S'mores
- Graham crackers
- Marshmallows
- Encore or other cannabis-infused chocolate
- Put your medicated chocolate between two graham crackers
- Place your marshmallow on your roasting stick to your desired char
- Pull your marshmallow off between your chocolate/graham cracker combo and enjoy!
